A whole estate — three residences, a gallery hall, historic interiors, 1,118 private acres — held entirely for you. The day unfolds on your terms, in a house with a century of gathering behind it.
Ashridge is not a venue in the traditional sense. It is a private estate campus — booked in its entirety, to one wedding or gathering at a time. When you book Ashridge, there are no other guests. No other events. No shared spaces and competing schedules.
What you have is the mansion, the gallery hall, the farmhouse, the guesthouse, the grounds, the lake, the barns, the Italian garden, and 1,118 private acres — all to yourselves, for as long as the booking runs.
Gated, single-owner access control — one party. No neighboring properties in frame. No competing events.
Arrive the evening before. Linger through the morning after. Three residences mean the people you love can stay.
18-bedroom mansion. 7-bedroom farmhouse (sleeps 18, subject to approvals). 4-bedroom guesthouse.
Up to 250 for dinner and reception (subject to layout, permitting, insurance, and final approvals). Clear-span, high-ceiling, attached to the mansion.
Hunt Slonem's restoration — chandeliers, Zuber wallpaper, eighteen-foot ceilings, granite fireplaces. No decoration required.
A working elevator serves the mansion's principal floors — guest access between levels without relying on the main stair alone.
Fields, forest, lake, Italian garden, river frontage. As much outdoor ceremony space as a couple could want.
We are pleased to offer marrying couples a replica of Louis Aston Knight's Riverside Farm — South Kortright, N.Y. — painted here in the summer of 1915, the estate's first season after completion. To our knowledge, it is the earliest surviving picture of this place.
We offer it in the hope that what you begin here endures as the house itself has — through a century of gathering, stewardship, and return.
Louis Aston Knight at AshridgeAll capacity numbers at Ashridge — for overnight stays, dining, reception, and outdoor use — are subject to layout, event type, permitting, fire code, insurance, and final property approvals. The figures we share are working estimates based on the physical space; the confirmed number for your event is established during the planning process. We encourage all couples to raise the question of capacity early, so that expectations are set correctly from the start.
Four moments across one estate — each with its own character, each within a few minutes of the others.
In the Italian garden. On the front lawn where Eleanor Roosevelt once closed an assembly. At the water's edge. Ashridge has no shortage of ceremony settings on private acreage — and none of them require decoration to be extraordinary.
Inside the mansion's principal rooms — ballroom, dining room, drawing room — for smaller parties. In the gallery hall, attached to the mansion, for up to 250 (subject to layout, permitting, insurance, and final approvals). Or both, with cocktails in one and dinner in the other.
When the celebration ends, nobody leaves. Eighteen bedrooms in the mansion, seven in the farmhouse, four in the guesthouse — the people you love can sleep under the same roof, or across three buildings on 1,118 acres. The commercial laundry means even a multi-day stay is fully supported.
Breakfast in the mansion's dining room or on the lawn. A walk to the lake. The chef's kitchen in the farmhouse for a late-morning gathering. The riverbank at first light. The estate encourages lingering — and there are no check-out pressures when you've booked the whole place.

Ashridge's whole-estate format is equally suited to family reunions, milestone celebrations, multigenerational holidays, and private seasonal buyouts. For the gathering where the event is simply being together — in a house with a century of gathering behind it — a private estate buyout is the right frame.
Three residences, five kitchens, a gallery hall, a commercial laundry, and 1,118 private acres. Book it for a weekend, a week, or longer.
Buyout InquiryEvent capacities, catering arrangements, alcohol service, tenting, outdoor structures, and overnight use are all subject to zoning, permitting, insurance, and final property approvals. All of these items are confirmed individually as part of the booking process. Please do not assume any particular use or capacity without written confirmation from estate management.
We work with couples and families who understand what this place is. Tell us your date, your size, and what you're imagining — and we'll respond with honest information about whether Ashridge is right for you.
